Name: Hank Williams 3rd
What is your job? Musician
What social causes are most important to you? I do Homes for
the Troops, trying to help out soldiers who were badly injured to make sure
they have the special ramps or modifications they need for their houses – and I
also try to do as much as I can for animals.
What charities do you support? Happy Tales in Franklin, TN
and Homes for the Troops.
Why do you have a passion for this one in particular, is
there a personal tie? I was raised on a farm most of my life, I tend to be
introverted, and I feel at home with animals, they keep me active. I think of
my three dogs as my kids.
As far as supporting troops, I’m not political, I try to
stay away from politics in my music, Jello Biafra does that well, but I want
people to forget about problems when they listen to music. Ozzy once said when
a soldier returns, they should be taken care of for life. I don’t see that our
troops are as taken care of as well as they should be when they come home
injured so I try to help where I can.
Is there a particular way you would want to encourage
readers to be involved? If you are looking for a pet, please go to a shelter,
they are already available, and they need homes. Spey and neuter, and adopt! Or
visit petfinder.com and try to help a family that has to find a new home for
their pet.
How would you define social responsibility? Being
responsible is your work ethic, are you being productive? Making your family
proud?
