Name: William Sisca
What is your job? Founder &
Chairman of F.A.C.T Foundation
What social causes are most important to you?
Finding a cure for
type-1 and type-2 Diabetes
What charities do you support – and how?
Besides the F.A.C.T
Foundation, which is my own charity, I have supported charities dealing with
Diabetes including American Diabetes Association and the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.
Why do you have a passion for this one in particular, is
there a personal tie?
I was diagnosed with
type-1 Diabetes at the age of 13, and ever since then, I wanted to do something
to help find a cure and raise awareness for this disease that affects 26
million Americans, and rising.
Is there a particular way you would want to encourage
readers to be involved?
If you can attend one
of our events, definitely do so. They are a ton of fun and all the money raised
goes towards research and helping out local diabetics who are under-insured or
uninsured and need help paying for their diabetic supplies. We also accept
monetary donations of any amount, which also goes towards the same cause.
How would you define social responsibility?
To me, social
responsibility means giving back if the circumstances are right. In my case,
since I was affected with Diabetes, I feel as though it’s my duty to “step up
to the plate”, and work towards finding a cure through research, fundraising,
and determination.
